A little about us

The Walsall Roads Cycling Club was established in 1919 and is based in Aldridge, near Walsall. We have approximately 40 members. A large number of our members ride time trials. Each year our club promotes two open time trials, a series of weekend and evening club time trials, three hill climbs and a road race. The Club also holds regular social rides such as youth hostel weekends, club runs, Majorca holidays (as shown below).

Latest News:

• Club evening 10 mile time trial course. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Following a committee meeting held on the 16th March 2012, we have agreed by majority vote to change the K6/10 course we'll be using this year to one which starts near Dobbies garden centre entrance on the A449 (just north of Gailey), goes through Penkridge, turn at J13, back through Penkridge and finishes before Gailey. Please use the lay-bys for car parking, we shall attempt to obtain permission to use the Spread Eagle public house car park, but until we obtain this approval please refrain from using their car park.

• IMPORTANT: Please note that due to the number of assistants and marshals required to run an event on the A25/11, to ensure we have enough helpers and in the interests of fairness we shall not be able to accept entries from club members for our open event on the 23rd June 2012.

• New Club Clothing design is complete and we have taken delivery of our first stocks. Please contact Mark Carter (Hon. Clothing Secretary) for details of available stock.

• 2012 Open Events Confirmed as follows:

  K48/10 on 7th April at 2pm organised by Simon Bates.

  A25/11 on 23rd June at 2pm organised by Steve Wilkins. (see note above regarding club members entries).

  K16/25 on 12th August at 6-7am (depending on numbers) organised by David Lloyd.
